After completion of Class 10 commerce stream is quite a popular choice in India as most students feel that the stream offers them a wide arena of career options to pursue after class 12, that would bring them both success as well as financial security easily.

Commerce as a stream of education can be defined as a study of trade and business activities such as the exchange of goods and services from producer to final consumer. The main subjects that are taught in the Commerce stream in Class 11 and 12 include Economics, Accountancy and Business Studies. Choose this field if you have a genuine interest in these subjects and have an affinity for numbers, the economy and business!

Students who wish to take up the commerce stream should keep in mind that this subject is not an easy alternative as compared to science. Both science and commerce are complex study areas in their own ways and cannot be compared. After doing commerce you can do B.com and CA and then you can take career in a safe path or you can do BBA or B.ed and carry your life in management or teaching side and that would also take your life in a safe path. Note that safe path and that is the reason why some people says commerce is better. If you choose to go in management side you need not remember anything which you have studied in school or college because after doing science we must deal with machines and after doing commerce we must deal with humans which we do all time. And science is a challenging thing and we don't know which field of science will fall down at which time. But commerce is comparatively a non-risky and safe travelling. 

Commerce stream opens doors that lead to professional courses like Chartered Accountancy, Cost and works accountant and Company secretary course, which offer a great future to students. This professional courses are prestigious and students who choose commerce stream can get easy approach on the syllabus of these courses.

There are two academic years present- 11th and 12th standards. In case of some boards and state boards , each academic year has been divided into two semesters, each semester lasting a period of 6 months. Main evaluation exams are held at the end of each academic year.

After passing 12th standard board examination, Commerce stream students may go for traditional Commerce and chosen subjects, based courses as well as other new courses. Some major fields available in front of Commerce stream students are- Traditional Commerce courses, Law Education, Management courses, Diploma courses, Architecture, Social Works courses, Education courses and Technical courses.
